Happy Thanksgiving from a 100 Day Old!

Hi Everyone!

It's been a long time since we've posted real pictures from a real camera, not just the phone camera. We hope you enjoy!

On Thanksgiving Thursday it was also Viva's 100th Day! In Korea they traditionally celebrate the baby's 100th day, it is called the Baek-Il. In the first picture there is a cookie that is decorated with "Congratulations 100 Day Viva". See? The cake was deeelicious by the way... mmm.

So, on Thursday we had family over and had a hmm... what's a word that is even better than delicious? Scrumptious? Yummy yummiest yummers? .. well, we had a dinner that was beyond great. Glen cooked the turkey to perfection. Seriously. We feasted on our savory meal and winded down the evening with coffee and mocha cake. Viva was her stellar usual self, and sat in the Bumbo (that's that yellow chair you often see her in) at the dinner table the entire time! She just watched us eat and entertained us with a few coo's and laughs.

We have been so busy with working and playing... and this computer is SO S L O W... and is about to die on me. Poor little Mac, you've been good friend.

Dad's been busy at his new job, mostly thumbs up situation there. Hooray.

Lemon's been bouncing around like a good pooch.

Viva and I have been busy going on long walks, daily and we go to Baby and Mommy yoga classes, which have been fantastic!

Adventures of a Two Month Old!

Hello family and friends! Later today Viva will be going to her 2 month pediatrician visit- we'll see how much she weighs! Glen and I guess- 14-15 pounds... we'll see! It's always exciting to get her weighed! Just this past week I really think her thighs and her arms have become more chubby! I'll take photos of the tubbiness for next weeks post, if I can remember. My memory has been terrible lately! My friends and the internet tell me that post-pregnancy moms tend to lose their memory significantly- hormones and lack of sleep. Yup, I guess it's true!

Sometimes I ask Glen something- he answers- I compute the answer. Minutes later, I'll ask him the same question... talk about annoying, huh? Believe me, I wish I could stop! But my goldfish memory is worth it all when I see the cuteness of my daughter. Man, she's an unstoppable force of beauty.

What's new? Well this week I hung out with my friends Suekhee and Bonnie (they are girlfriends I met from our birthing class back in May/June) and their daughters Minah and Polly. Moira and Lil' Miette came too! Four little newborn girls is a sight to be seen!

My friend Ester and Will (unpictured) came to visit! That was perfect- they came on a very rainy gloomy Saturday and brightened up the room.

What else? Ahhh Glen's new job is going well so far but his dissertation is due in January- so he will be working very hard, very soon. So everybody, please, please think good thoughts for him in the upcoming months... less stress and easy writing!

Uncle Scott Is In Town!

Uncle Scott is in town for a few days! Hooray!

He's been here less than 48 hours and we've been busy, oh yes...

Yesterday he made us 2 cheesecakes... yup, two. We went to Fette Sau, a great Brooklyn joint, for a delicious barbeque dinner with the BBQ king, and today we went apple picking. Glen took all the pictures, so there aren't many of him- I know, Booo! right? But Scott took a ton, so maybe when he downloads his he can send them to me and I can post them up for you.

Guess who's a big 12 pounds?

We had a busy couple weeks. Grandma and Grandpa left with Cassius... below are some cute photos of him. purr, purr.
We went to the pediatrician on Viva's 6 week birthday- she weights 12 pounds! 3 pounds in 6 weeks, you go Viva!
Viva and I dragged Glen to the Atlantic Antic, a yearly gigantic street fair. There were promises of cold beer... Our friend, Bonnie, from birthing class met up with us and took that picture. Despite the look on his face, we had a great time. oh, and there were corn dogs involved... so c'mon, who wouldn't want to be there? oh look! There i posted a more happy picture... here's dad smiling, cold beer in hand, talking to our friend Shawn- a new dad! Remember I said our friends Moira and Shawn had a lil girl, Miette? She's snuggled against Shawn.

what else? dog parks, cute outfits, sitting in her new funny yellow baby chair, good stuff! and most important? We think Little Miss Viva Minnie is getting herself ready to start smiling soon! We get some morning mini-smiles... we're just waiting for the full blown, cheeky grin. mmm delicious!

Hiya! long time no blog, ey?
So, these photos are from our first giant playdate!
Back in my big belly days, Glen and I took birthing classes- and the moms in the class decided to all have a lil' hang out once our babes were born. Viva and I took the subway for the first time to our playdate and it was great! Seven newborn babies hanging out, seven hungry mommies eating and gabbing... mmm.

our week's been crazy so far...
gm linda and gp harvey left on tuesday... and took a VIP with them on their airpline ride.
That's right. Our very lovely Cassius the Cat went back to California. He retired from Brooklyn took his pension and is setting up his lazyboy chair next to the pool in the Valley.

This has nothing to do with my terrible cat allergy induced asthma. nope, nothing at all. He really wanted to be westward bound. I swear!

He safely made it to his retirement home and is happy as a clam. Glen and I will miss him terribly but we'll see him on holiday and vacations. Stay fat and furry fabulous one!

Oh, yeah... the baby.
Viva Minnie is doing well! she's growing and growing and eating and eating and pooping and...

Her hair is getting longer and it's still all sorts of different shades' o' brown.
We wonder if it will fall out? will it stay in? will it stay brown? will it turn even lighter? will it get darker?
This baby is a total mystery to us sometimes, but she's so gosh darn adorable.

The Busiest Week of Her Life... so far.

Who am I kidding? It wasn't just Leave It to Veever's Busiest Week Ever- it was Glen and my busiest week ever too... oy!
However, in our case... busy=fun!

Grandma Linda and Grandpa Harvey are in town! Hooray!
Viva got to:
go to 2 Brooklyn flea markets in 1 weekend, watch adults eat yummy greek food, meet her three girl nieces for the first time and play all day with her Aunt Erica and Uncle Tom, go to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for the first (and first of many trip because now we have a year membership- thanks to Grandma Linda's anniversary present!), visit DUMBO and see the Brooklyn & Manhattan Bridge, watch adults have hot chocolate from Jacque Torres, mmmmm, and more.

what else?
Hmm, Viva also got her first "in the bathtub- bath"! no more sponge baths for her!

Hooray for Babies!

First- CONGRATULATIONS to our friends Moira and Shawn! They had a daughter, Miette, today and we can't wait to meet her! Viva will have a new Brooklyn girlfriend to hang out with! Ahhhh!

Today is a rainy Saturday... and we really, really slept in. All of Us. After many yawns and long stretches we decided to start our lazy day. I gave Viva a sponge bath. Let me tell ya- newly washed, fluffy baby hair, is just about the most yummiest sweetest awesome thing in the whole wide world. I LOVE her hair freshly washed.
I got to take a long relaxing warm shower while Glen cooked a deeelicious breakfast. After eating, Glen gave Lemon a bath and now our puppy smells like Oatmeal and Honey. and then Glen took a quick shower. What else happened? Our friends Sarah and Eyal came over for a visit (they LOVE Lemon, by the way... i mean, love Lemon. and Lemon loves them)- and Viva Minnie really brought on the cuteness. She coo'd, mini-smiled, and slept soundly for hours. Makin' us proud, little daughter! We think Viva's first word may just be "Sarah". we'll see.

I am particularly happy with the photos in this blog entry. Now that we have a new camera I get to practice taking better photographs- and get a little more artistic... well, it's a start for now. Mom should make more art.

Glen's mom is in town! So Viva will meet Grandma Linda and Grandpa Harvey this week!

More Pictures and Newsy Tidbits...

First off, Viva looks grumpy in the first photo because Summertime is No Longer. Like many of you, she is about to cry. There, there, it's okay... Autumn is around the corner- and there's nothing better than Autumn in New York!

Glen starts his new job tomorrow! Hello school psychologist! He shaved his beard off- what you see is his Good Bye Beard photo.

Our doula, Stana, came to visit Miss Viva Minnie on Friday! A most excellent visit from our new excellent friend. Viva snuggled right up to her and slept for an hour, safe in her arms.

Today we walked around our neighborhood- host of the yearly West Indies Day parade. We saw Mayor Bloomberg marching. We gave him a piece of our minds... but he couldn't hear us- because he was wearing a very loud hot pink golfing shirt.
get it? "loud"?! My jokes are now PG, PG13 on a a sassy day.

Viva liked the parade, lots of new sounds and people. She was very, very content- cocooned in her PeanutSling. Our daughter loves to be in a sling, let me tell ya.

Today is Monday, last Friday she weighed a whopping 9 lbs 14 ounces. She's probably 10 lbs today. She's a mini whale. Which is a great thing. In honor of this goodness we put her in her whale onesie- a gift from Kim and Geoff.

Speaking of gifts- Thank you friends and family- we are really blessed by your kindness! All the hand-me-downs and presents are awesome! Viva is one lucky girl. (lucky and fashionable).

last thing- people have been curious about how Lemon is adapting to the new critter. She's been great. She has not jumped, pawed, or made a peep at Viva. She has licked, sniffed, and followed us to every diaper change. At night Lemon sleeps at the foot of Viva's co-sleeping bed... and in the morning we like to bring Viva up into our bed. When this happens, Lemon jumps up and snuggles next to glen. So we sleep like four ducks in a row... Lemon, Glen, Viva, Jane.

little Viva went to a bbq yesterday and it plum tuckered her out! Tonight she's going to a mini Mad Men marathon so she is conserving her energy. What a good girl.

We're snap happy!
Here's a quick update- in 15 minutes she will officially be ONE WEEK old! Amazing. Really.
We are so in love... it's fun to fall in love all over again.
Our apartment is full of cute critters- Glen, Lemon, Viva, and Moi!

She is sleeping so well and she is eating really well too.
The only time she fusses is when we have to wake her to feed her.
In this heat she loves to hang out in her diaper and little sleeveless t shirts... she likes her back rubbed and toes massaged... she likes it when you look at her in the eyes and call her funny nicknames.

Today is pretty humid so we are going to go to the air conditioned Brooklyn Museum for cool, family fun. I promise not to get all art teacher on her!
